Wednesday Watercolor Classes

Simply Watercolor!

Wednesday Watercolor Classes
The Upstairs Art Gallery  Arlington, Texas
We painted wet into wet washes for the background around
the white geese,  simple wet washes into the bodies leaving
the white of the paper for the highlights and finishing with
the beak, eyes and webbed feet, a few grass strokes and that was it.
Our project for the day was bright, colorful and loose.
Inspired by an artist on Pinterest.
Everyone did a fantastic job.  I hope to have pictures of
student work next week to post.

A Pinterest Project, Painted Tennis Shoes

 Pinterest Painted Project
Blue Bird painted on a Canvas
Tennis Shoe
Size 8
Acrylic on Canvas
by
Margie Whittington

It is fun to paint wearable art.  These are inexpensive tennis shoes I
purchased at Wallmart.  A coat of gesso on the toes and a coat of
yellow acrylic paint. Bird and branch design painted on and polka dots
added.  Whala, cute shoes.  I am going to scotch guard before wearing them.

You too can have hand painted tennies.  Let me know your size, color and
motif you want painted.  $50/pair plus tax and shipping cost
(I will donate $5 from each order toward our church's children summer programs)

Garden Party Demo

GARDEN PARTY DEMO

12" x 12" Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas

I was invited to paint during a garden party at a lovely home in Southlake, Texas.
The Arts League, which is an arm of The Arts Council of Northeast Tarrant County
sponsored the garden party along with a fundraiser silent auction including a variety
of donated baskets filled with wonderful items.
The funds raised are going to a summer art program for children.
During the first half, guests had refreshments,
visited and listened to a string quartet play beautiful music
while they bid on the silent auction items.  During this time I painted the
floral above while some of the ladies watched. I donated the painting to the
auction and at the end of the party the painting was auctioned off in a live auction. It went to
the highest bidder for $350.
What fun it was painting in such pretty surroundings while violins played in the background.

 GERBER DAISY
6" x 6"
Acrylic on Canvas

The painting of the this single Gerber Daisy was done from the centerpiece
of flowers on the serving table at the Garden Party.
I gave it to the hostess who had graciously offered her home for the party.
