A Paint Out in Acton, Texas

The "Doug Club"  Paint out group met
in Acton, Texas close to Granbury at one of the group's property full
of interesting farm equipment and unique painting
subjects and a pond with a boat.  The May day was gorgeous, sunny with a
little breeze.  We all picked our spots and set up and got started painting
I was fortunate to have my husband, Phil, join me as he usually goes
to play golf on Saturdays. It was a fun day painting, meeting a
group of outdoor painters from Dallas, seeing artist friends and enjoying the beautiful
scenery and weather.

the artists about paint outs at interesting locations.

The Red Tractor was a favorite subject!

A lazy summer day!

Hope you had a good weekend and a Happy Mother's Day!

GONE FISHIN!

"GONE  FISHIN!"

It was a gorgeous Spring day and what better to do than...
take a drive in the country and go fishing!  Our nephew has friends
that have a ranch close to Midlothean, Texas with three fishing tanks.
We caught big mouth bass and a few brim.  Because it is spawning season,
we threw them back and will catch them again later on in the spring.
I caught one as big as the one Phil has in the picture below but didn't
have my camera at the time.  I do have witnesses, my nephew, brother-in-law
and Phil, my husband.  It was a glorious day and we had so much fun.
Thanks for the memories, John!

Photos of the prairie lands around the tanks we fished.

We were not alone out there.

Ya'll come back, ya hear!!!!!!

"CREATIVITY"

"Creativity is the mind at play with
the materials that it loves."~Carl Jung

A friend inspired me when she gave me a "Mini-quilted Birthday Card"
to get out my fabric and ribbon embroidery basket.
I had made a ribbon embroidered crazy quilt pillow for my
grandaughter for Christmas as shown in a prior post.
I had some scrapes from that project left and could not bring myself
to throw them away.  So I was delighted with the idea of this little quilt.
I decided to use my scrapes to make some 4" sachet angels with lavender
seeds inside for a delicate lavender smell.
Below are pictures of two angels made from the
crazy quilt scrapes and one made with raw silk and embroidered flowers.

Pictured below is my "Mini-quilt Birthday Card" and some
others that my friend has made.
@ 5"x7"

I finished another crocheted baby quilt, white with a blue edge
for a friend  who has a new grandson.

That's it for now.  I have enjoyed keeping my hands busy making these items, now
I need to get back to painting!!!!!!!
